Secure, Accurate
and Verified Elections
Who is S.A.V.E Democracy?
We are a national network of culturally and politically diverse citizens
working together in a non-partisan, unified manner for the purpose of restoring
the sanctity, integrity , openness and legality of our electoral system by
replacing current voting systems with same day hand counting of paper ballots.
We believe:
- that sufficient evidence of the extreme dangers of computerized voting
has been compiled -- dangers that increasingly include vote counting methods
designed to facilitate and protect vote fraud on a massive scale -- so that
very clearly it is time to create secure, accurate and verifiable same day
hand counted inexpensive paper ballot elections. Learn
more about the problem of electronic voting and
the solution.
- that any use of computers to count votes constitutes a secret ballot count
because public scrutiny of the inner workings of the machine is totally
impossible.
- that with the passage of the Help
America Vote Act of 2002 , the Federal government allotted 3.9 billion
dollars for states to "update" their voting technology to the
latest, most dangerous computers ever created: Touch Screen voting machines
that do not produce a ballot, contain two-way modems, and, like other
computerized voting machines, are programmed in secret by private corporations
unaccountable to the public.
- that the democratic foundation of our Republic is being profoundly undermined
by the take-over of our electoral process, in part by
unaccountable private corporations that demonstrate partisan conflicts
of interest, employ convicted felons, and design voting machines that regularly
malfunction and can be manipulated without detection.

Important Quotes
-
"The computer voting system
in this country is a veritable can of worms, so open to tampering that
if there is no organized election fraud going on, the criminals are falling
down on the job. Computer vote fraud is not only feasible but, by its
very nature, undetectable. It is hard to conceive of an organized criminal
enterprise with such a favorable combination of high profit potential
and low risk."
-- Relevance Magazine editor Dr. Phillip M. O Halloran
-
"In fact, all the evidence
suggests that computer voting will make election fraud possible with an
ease and scale heretofore impossible to achieve."

"When it comes to computerized
elections, there are no safeguards. It's not a door without locks,
it's a house without doors."
-- Howard Strauss, Director of Advanced
Computer Applications at Princeton University and a nationally renowned
expert in the field of computer voting. Source: Relevance Magazine

"As Mr. Jones points out,
nowhere in the system today from the manufacturer to the independent testing
authority to the logic and accuracy testing done by the state is security
testing part of that procedure."
"We're flying blind in terms of an industry that doesn't have to
build to any standards, independent testing authorities, which by the
way are paid strictly by the vendors to test and make sure it functions
properly, but not to do the security testing."
-- Michael Wertheimer, Director, RABA Innovative Solutions

"The most stunning thing
in our work was that hand-counted paper ballots were better than anything
else."
